Artist Brief
Alex Radus is known as a “sultry crooner” (City Paper) and “master guitarist” (Courier News), but his songwriting takes center stage. Known affectionately for his unique brand of “genre whiplash”, Radus pairs whimsical and poignant storytelling with an eclectic mix of Americana, swing, blues, folk and more. Radus hails from Pennsylvania’s artistically rich Lehigh and Delaware river valley region, where he has established himself as one of the area’s premiere original music artists. Most recently, he was selected as a 2024 Falcon Ridge Folk Fest Emerging Artist and voted a “Most Wanted” artist to return to the Main Stage in 2025.
During his early career, Radus was awarded a youth scholarship to Augusta Heritage, a center for the preservation of traditional American styles of music. There he was first exposed to and learned from some of the nation’s best finger-pickers, including John Cephas, Pat Donohue, Mary Flower and Eddie Pennington, who helped influence his unique finger style and respect for traditional music.
Radus has performed with John Gorka as part of the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band, and has been direct support for Gorka, Richie Havens, Tim Reynolds, Darrell Scott, Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), and more. As a member of the folk noir duo, duende, Radus was a staple of NYC’s early aughts Anti-Folk scene at the Sidewalk Café, where he performed alongside some of the City’s best up-and-coming and established songwriters, including Regina Spektor, Nellie McKay and the Moldy Peaches.
Radus has toured extensively, recorded multiple albums, and earned awards, nominations and critical acclaim for his songwriting, recording and performing. His music has been featured on radio, TV and film, including Adolescence, directed by Ashley Avis (Black Beauty). A staple of the eastern PA music scene, Radus is a frequent performer at the region’s best festivals and venues, including Musikfest, Zoellner Arts Center, Godfrey Daniels, Steelstacks, Hopewell Theater, World Cafe Live and more. The Alex Radus Band features Daniella Fischetti (violin), Robbie Sko (piano), Daniel Manchester (upright bass), and Charlie Heim.

Bio
Alex Radus’ music draws from across the American songwriting spectrum and beyond, leapfrogging genres and blurring the lines between them. An award-winning and critically acclaimed singer/songwriter, Radus hails from Pennsylvania’s artistically rich Lehigh and Delaware River Valley region. Radus’ sound is characterized by that rare trifecta: the ability to sing, play guitar and pen songs at a high level across multiple genres.
Radus began his career in the Americana duo, duende, which toured extensively, playing some of the country’s best listening rooms. Duende met in the hills of West Virginia, at Augusta Heritage, a center for the preservation of traditional American styles of music. There Radus was first exposed to and learned from some of the nation’s best finger-pickers, including John Cephas, Pat Donohue, Mary Flower and Eddie Pennington, who helped influence his unique finger style and respect for traditional music. At Augusta, Radus was also immersed in swing and jazz manouche, which inspired his fan favorite We Can’t Play Like Django. In the early aughts, duende became a staple of Alphabet City’s Anti-Folk scene at the Sidewalk Café, where Radus performed alongside some of NYC’s best up-and-coming and established songwriters, including Regina Spektor, the Moldy Peaches and Chris Barron.
Radus is known as a “sultry crooner” (The City Paper) and a “master guitarist” (Courier News), but his songwriting always takes center stage. Known affectionately for giving audiences “genre whiplash”, Radus pairs whimsical and poignant storytelling with a sophisticated mix of Americana, swing, blues, folk, Anti-folk, country and more. In addition to his playing and composing, Radus’ vocal versatility completes his signature sound, speaking authentically to each genre with respect and sophistication.
Radus’ music and performances have been featured on radio, film and television, including three songs featured in 2018’s Adolescence, directed by Ashley Avis (Black Beauty). His discography includes Tributaries–Recorded Live at Godfrey Daniels (“gripping lyricism…impeccable grace and finesse” – Underground Music Collective); Jewels & Tinware (“creative, original…perfect” – Steel Notes Magazine); Love Me Like You Hate Me (“impressive…eerie, intense and wonderful” – The Morning Call); and duende (“a fluid, melodic hybrid of roots music” – The Village Voice). Radus has also recently released a self-titled, debut album with his alt rock project, Hot4Robot (“a brilliant vision…a multi-layered, adventurous soundscape” – Underground Music Collective).
The Alex Radus Band features Daniella Fischetti (Pyrenesia) on fiddle, Robbie Sko on keys, Daniel Manchester (Pyrenesia) on upright bass and Charlie Heim (Johnny Showcase; Martha Graham Cracker; Grady Hoss and the Sidewinders) on drums. A staple of the eastern PA music scene, Radus is a frequent performer at the region’s best festivals and venues, including Musikfest, Zoellner Arts Center, Godfrey Daniels, Steelstacks, Hopewell Theater, World Cafe Live and more.
